Reminiscent of a piece called "Letting Go" I did a few years back. This one is much smaller and with the addition of a Philpot.
I could have sold the original piece many times over, but as I no longer take commissions, I felt moved to make it into a limited edition print (now sold out too). I have been very touched by letters and emails from people for whom this image had a very special significance. It has been used on a grave stone, and remembrance cards, for example, even though this was not the thought behind the original piece.
So here it is again, in another guise. For me it symbolizes a time of letting go of bad memories, limiting beliefs, old habits that are no longer useful. And who hasn't accidentally (or not) let go of a treasured balloon, and experienced the mixed feelings of wonder and loss as it soars out of view?
This is a totally lovely 19-colour screen print on 350gsm Monaco matt paper, individually hand printed by Angus at Artizan Editions in deepest darkest Hove.
